Rekindling God's Gift<\/span><\/span><\/h2>\n

\n

Celebrating a hundred years invites us to return to the treasure that gives meaning to our lives. We look back on history not just to preserve it, but to let it renew us. <\/span><\/p>\n

The document from our 17th General Chapter invites us to rekindle God\u2019s gift. This call helps us to experience our centennial as a time of inner, personal, communal, and missionary renewal. <\/p>\n

To recreate means returning to the source so that the charism may continue to enrich life today. It means allowing ourselves to be shaped by God, opening ourselves to his newness, and allowing our mission to take on new forms of presence. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n

Our greatest treasure
is the experience of Jesus<\/h2>\n

\n

Our vocation is rooted in Him, and it is from Him that we seek to understand our mission.<\/span><\/p>\n

To recreate his charism is to return to Him, to allow ourselves to be transformed by his choices, by his way of seeing, of drawing near, of touching lives, of lifting up those who were wounded, and of giving his own life out of love.<\/p>\n

Jesus the Redeemer remains the source of our spirituality. In Him we discover the meaning of our discipleship and the strength to cross boundaries. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The Missionary Spirit<\/h2>\n

To rediscover this treasure is to rekindle the missionary spirit that drives us to go out and share the Good News of Jesus with all peoples, with all people, and with all of creation.<\/span><\/p>\n

Today, this mission takes concrete forms such as the search for meaning, companionship, care, hospitality, justice, dialogue, and encounters with what is different. In a special way, we feel called to be close to the most vulnerable people and to situations where life needs to be cared for. <\/p>\n

Our mission is to live with an open heart, ready to be sent forth. It is to recognize the new frontiers of our time and ask ourselves where God wants us to be today. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n

Communion for Mission<\/h2>\n

The Berriz community knew how to unite hearts by listening to God\u2019s will as expressed in the cries of humanity.<\/span><\/p>\n

That experience of communion remains essential. Our mission is discerned, sustained, and lived out as a family. We, the MMB Sisters and lay members, share the same desire: that the charism we have received may continue to bring life. <\/p>\n

To rediscover our treasure is to nurture our bonds, listen together, seek together, allow ourselves to be challenged by reality, and respond as a missionary family.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n

The Fourth Vote<\/h2>\n

At the heart of our Mercedarian vocation lies the Redemptive Fourth Vow, which we today express as a commitment to remain in the mission even at the risk of losing our lives, if the good of our brothers so requires.<\/span><\/p>\n

This vow expresses our following of Jesus, who redeems us by giving his own life. It is the source of our spirituality and the center from which we give our vocation and missionary response meaning in the MMB. <\/p>\n

That is why, for us, giving life<\/strong> is not just a beautiful expression. It is a concrete way of loving: <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n

to give one's life so that others may have life<\/h3>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
